loving the dialogue in this Fire Emblem 8 mod (The White Hag).

Some thoughts on the #Analogue3D:

It is very cool and sleek hardware (see my terrible photo with my original #OcarinaOfTime module) and can be a lot of fun if you want to have a mostly authentic #N64 experience on modern FullHD or 4K screen.

There are a lot of things to consider if you are willing to invest so quite a bit of money into this console:

Despite being a #FPGA device the system is not open, so no #OpenFPGA in the future which would you allow other to #misterFPGA cores/systems (open alternatives: misterFPGA, #M64 and the #SuperStationOne).
Some promised stuff is missing such as save states and play time recording.
The official controller has to be bought if you don't plan to use an original N64 controller. the Wireless NSO N64 by Nintendo controller is not compatible.
The official #8BitDo controller does not correctly emulate an N64 controller which can be problematic in certain scenarios involving the C buttons.
Butchered PAL versions with less FPS /slowdown etc are still butchered.
A few games do have compatibility issues (which are being worked on).
HDMI-CEC support is broken and hasn't been fixed for weeks.
Analogue seems to fulfilling orders in a quite random sequence.
The integrated fan can be quite annoying/loud, especially for people sensitive for highly pitched noises.
Don't forget about import taxes.
No bluetooth audio, so your partner can "enjoy" the Yoshi Story soundtrack with you.
Maybe emulation is good enough for you? 🤷
Flash carts do at this work, just get/build a #SummerCart64. Emulators written for N64 hardware emulating other system do not work though.

I've played fewer games in 2025 than in 2024, but I've most likely played for more time overall. 🕹️

I've certainly completed more games than in the previous year. So, here's my top four (in no particular order):

• Aliens: Neoplasma (2023, ZX Spectrum);
• Gley Lancer (1992, Mega Drive);
• Crash Bandicoot (1996, PlayStation);
• Commander Keen 5 (1991, MS-DOS).

Even though "Aliens: Neoplasma" is a ZX Spectrum 128K game, with all its limitations, I found it to be a very immersive game. It's just hard enough to be challenging, without being frustrating.

The music is the same throughout the game but, instead of becoming annoying, it contributes to the atmosphere.

Really, this is probably the best game around for the ZX Spectrum. There's a sequel, but I haven't played too much of that yet.

The graphics and music in "Gley Lancer" are awesome, but that wouldn't be enough to keep me engaged to completion if it lacked other qualities. But... it's a great game with lots of variability across levels.

It's also very hard, which would probably be a fatal flaw back then. Fortunately, we have emulator save states to cheat^Hhelp us these days.

One wouldn't get a feeling for what the PlayStation represented back in the mid-90's without playing the original Crash Bandicoot. It's still a great game today, although younger audiences might find it a bit slow paced.

I found it just right to relax after work over a couple of weeks.

I spent the whole of November playing id Software's Commander Keen 4 ("Secret Of The Oracle"), 5 ("The Armageddon Machine"), and 6 ("Aliens Ate My Baby Sitter!"), for a total of 48 levels.

All three games are very good and each one has its own (visually) distinct personality, even though the mechanics are the same.

The most popular of the three is "Secret Of The Oracle", but I feel that "The Armageddon Machine" is probably the one I enjoyed the most (though I'm not exactly sure why).

When I look at the weekly statistics on my Internet Archive uploads, there seems to be a steady interest in the Amiga Workbench 3.1 disks, as well as in classic MS-DOS and Windows floppies. People also still like to play 80s adventure games like "Leisure Suit Larry", "Zak McKracken" or "Maniac Mansion". The Macintosh fans also love their SimCity 2000!
