Just FTR, my recommendations for #SHTF #TEOTWAWKI #rifles in the US are:

1. Any bolt-action, magazine fed scout rifle in .308 Win.
2. An AR-15 platform based 5.56 x 45 mm semi-auto pistol/PDW or carbine with all the fixings.

3. Any bolt-action .22 LR
4. Any semi-auto M14 derivative in a common calibre, like the Springfield M1A or Ruger Mini-14
5. A .44 Magnum lever carbine (with a matching .44 Magnum double-action revolver).

The first two are the most important ones, in either order.
