Most People Are #RightHanded, But Why?

Roughly 85 to 90 percent of people are right-handed, while just 10 to 15 percent are #lefthanded, and a small percentage are #ambidextrous. Why is that?

#JohnMichaelAdamson (September 13, 1947 – May 7, 2022) was an American professional baseball player, a #righthanded #pitcher who appeared in eleven Major League Baseball (MLB) games for the #BaltimoreOrioles. Adamson was 6 feet 2 inches (1.88 m) tall and weighed 185 pounds (84 kg). Drafted out of the #UniversityOfSouthernCalifornia in the first round of the secondary phase in the 1967 #MajorLeagueBaseballDraft and signed to a Baltimore contract on June 27, 1967.

Leroy Evans "Chick" Maynard (November 2, 1896 – January 31, 1957) was a #shortstop in #MajorLeagueBaseball who played briefly for the #BostonRedSox during the 1922 season. Listed at 5' 9", 150 lb., Maynard batted #lefthanded and threw #righthanded. A native of #TurnersFallsMassachusetts, he studied at #DartmouthCollege. In a 12-game career, Maynard was a .125 hitter (3-for-24) with one run scored without any #homeRuns. At shortstop.

Android Handedness 
Androids, especially advanced or physically active varieties, have a much higher likelihood of being ambidextrous than human or mutant human characters do. Roll 1d10 on the following table at character generation, however, medical, technician, scientific and military android categories all gain +2 on the following 1d10 roll.

Character Hand Dominance

Because of critical strikes and called shots, a character’s good hand needs to be pre-established prior to any injury, especially the unfortunate amputation of one’s arm. Use the following table to establish the character’s dominant hand; or if the person is ambidextrousness which is common among excavators but only occurs about 1% of the time in NPCs. Androids and robots can choose to make either hand dominant, but not both unless they are specially designed to do so.

Why are there so many people on this planet wanting to force others into conformity?

100 years ago they forced #lefthanded people to write #righthanded. With destructive results.

200 years ago they tried to get visibly smaller kids to get taller by pulling mechanically while growing. With horrible results.

Today they force #gay, #lesbian, #trans people into the absolute female and male stereotypes and punish everyone not fitting. Forcing heterosexual behavior - with horrible results. #lgbtiq

I often hear right-handed people insist that left-handed people are smarter, and this view shows up in the popular press quite frequently, too. But I've always wondered whether left-handers believe the same thing. Any left-handers willing to weigh in? Is there research on this?
