This #Robotman strip has been sitting on my refrigerator for 26 years … it’s now wrinkled and yellow-brown from age.

But I still love it.

This 1999-vintage five-panel comic strip is from “Robotman,” by Jim Meddick.

Panel one:

Fleshy, a furless house cat, is curled on the floor and looking up at an old-style CRT television set, which is tuned to a nature documentary.

The David Attenborough-style narrator is speaking:

“Once again, the lioness slowly approaches the watering hole … then suddenly springs into action!”

Panel two:

As Fleshy watches intently, the narrator continues:

“But this time the gazelle is not so lucky … and is brought down by the massive claws of the lioness …”

Panel three:

Fleshy leaps to his feet in celebration, pointing a raised index finger high in the air as a “number one!” salute.

Panel four:

Like a football player who has just scored and spikes the ball, Fleshy performs an animated victory dance.

Panel five:

As Monty’s head enters the panel from the right, Fleshy (as often happens in the presence of humans) has reverted to typical house cat behavior, and is once again curled up quietly in front of the television set …

but notes Monty’s curious presence with an observant side-eye.
