Recently I managed to finetune my #Python code that reads jpeg data from my weighing scale app (Fitdays). Nowadays I Airdrop the data from the Fitdays app to my MacBook, the Python code reads the jpeg, translates it to real data and stores it in my #sqlite #database. They say "automate the boring stuff" and this is a case where that really worked very well.

I've blabbered about "relatable databases" a lot in my post history (with "relatable" meaning malleable and human-friendly): this use-case you've found is another example of #sqlite being highly relatable, and an absolute gem of a program.
I downloaded my Reddit history archive. It has a giant list of every comment I've ever made, as a CSV file.
I wanted to look at each comment, in context, on #Reddit. (To do that you need to open the URL in your browser with ?context=9 appended to the URL.)
At first, I loaded this behemoth into LibreOffice Calc, but it does not like data that big.
Then I was like, “hey wait, this is basically a database.” So I loaded it into SQLite.
#SQLite has absolutely no problem with data that big. 😌

With other databases, it's a bad idea to, for example, look up 3 different configuration parameters by name using 3 queries. You need to batch them into a single query. That's because you have to wait for the database server to answer each query before sending the next one.
I wonder how this affects #Rust #sqlx, though. Running a query with sqlx does involve waiting on a worker thread…
