I used a little hot glue to attach wires to the existing PCB board to be able to use the system while I wait for the new terminal to arrive.

Which is worse:
- Buying a replacement part that only comes in packs of three, thus the other two will probably go to waste (speaker terminal)
- Taking apart a working device that I haven't used in years but still works (simple FM stereo amp)

I could scavenge something from Goodwill, but then I'm kind of making more waste than if I pull apart this thing I don't use at all 🤔

A friend might give me an old McIntosh C-28 solid state preamp. Manufactured between 1970 and 1978, it will probably need some work. But it would be a nice piece to add to the modest collection.

I wish everything was as solid and long-lasting as my #stereo.
It consists of a record player from 1992 (#Technics SL-MK #1210), a CD player and a tape recorder from 1995, and a tuner and an amplifier from 1997 (all by #Yamaha).

They have never faltered or failed me. They just work and sound like they did on day one.

My speakers are from 1976 and, for nostalgic reasons, I have never replaced them – although I guess it would make a difference in this case.

@EurekaKreuzwort Das Gerät ist kein "Fernsehapparat". In diesem Fall ist es eine #Fernsehtruhe, genauer eine Radio-/Fernsehtruhe. Sowas gab es zu der Zeit tatsächlich auch gerne breiter, dann sogar mit #Plattenspieler (*) und/oder Spulen- #Tonbandgerät (*) verbaut. Sozusagen frühe "Kompaktanlagen".

*) #UKW Radio gab es damals noch in nur #mono, der Verstärkerteil in den verbauten Radiogeräten war oft schon für Stereoton ausgelegt. So konnte man seinerzeit entsprechende "Platten" schon in #stereo genießen oder auch so auf's Tonband überspielen.

Das war allerdings ein nicht ganz billiges Vergnügen. "Mein' Ommas" Fernseh-/Musiktruhe muss damals umgerechnet soviel wie ein kleiner VW o.ä. gekostet haben. 😀

I've been working on the parts list for this phono preamp project. There are 3 boards:

* The preamp itself
* The rumble filter (a high pass filter)
* The power supply

Can't wait to finish it and order everything.

This doesn't include whatever cases I decide to put them all in.

There's an inexpensive build project I've been meaning to work on for some time. It's an RIAA phono stage called the ESP 06. A friend of mine made up some boards and offered me a set, and how could I say no? My stereo preamp has a good photo stage but this will be fun to play with. Now I just have to find where I put the PCB's.

Ik ben dus echt fan van #stereo. Ik hoef nooit een 7.1 of een Atmos systeem. (Nou kijk ik ook vrijwel nooit films, dat scheelt.) Stereo is iets magisch, daar krijg ik nooit genoeg van.

I spent about $400 to have this vintage Yamaha CR-220 receive refurbished and some elements upgraded.
