A happy, well-rounded day in and around , . Explored State Park, smelled wild roses, listened to the ocean. Learned about 17th century ironmaking at Iron Works and 19th century granite quarrying at Halibut. Indulged in bisque at The Lobster Pool, baked scallops at the Fish Shack, and spotted at Tuck's -- all excellent! A day that includes the outdoors, history, and good food is as much of a dream day as I could ask for!

Manzanar, Calif. June 1942. Ichiro Okumura, 22, left, from Venice, Calif., and Ben Iguchi, 20, from Saugus, thinning young plants in a two-acre field of white radishes at the War Relocation Authority center for evacuees of Japanese ancestry

The image depicts two men engaged in agricultural work. They are kneeling side by side, tending to young plants growing on a field of white radishes. The man on the left is wearing a light-colored hat and has short hair, while the other wears a wide-brimmed straw hat with darker shades around his face.

Both individuals appear focused on their task as they bend down towards the ground. They are dressed in casual clothing suitable for outdoor work: one seems to be wearing dark pants and shoes, whereas the other's lower attire is not fully visible but suggests similar practical garments.

The field of radishes stretches across a vast area under an expansive sky with scattered clouds, hinting at ample sunlight. The terrain appears dry and flat, typical of arid regions or well-maintained agricultural fields.

At the top left corner, there is text indicating historical context: "Manzanar, Calif., June 1942," along with information about two individuals named Ichiro Okumura, aged 22 from Venice, California, and Ben Iguchi, who was also a resident of Saugus. The mention suggests that these men are Japanese Americans evacuees under the War Relocation Authority's program during World War II.

Overall, the image captures a moment in time where two individuals dedicatedly work amidst challenging circumstances to support themselves and their community through agriculture.
