Target is investing 1B USD in AI to predict retail trends and speed up product decisions. Its Trend Brain platform combines visual analysis of fashion photos with social media sentiment to predict which styles may gain traction, helping rotate collections twice as fast. The AI integration brings merchandising and marketing closer together. marketingtechnews.net/news/tar #Marketing #Strategy #AI #Target

“There's a boycott right now against Target that took several years before it actually materialized in a way that Target share price has now been like cut in half or something. And I wish the new CEO luck. But all that to say, I'm not sure that this is going to have the effect that Scott hopes and thinks and wants it to.
I just don't have the same faith in my fellow Americans willingness to not spend as he does.”

“calling for general economic strikes. And I think that is an extraordinarily dangerous game to play when you're telling people to no call, no show work or no show work, when they do not have a union protecting them in the strike.”

"Boycott over Target's diversity pullback ends, activists say

Leaders of a high-profile boycott against Target announced Wednesday they are ending the yearlong protest sparked by the retailer's decision to scale back some diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.

(. . .)

Why it matters: Leaders highlighting the boycott's success pointed to Target's pledge to fulfill its 2021 commitment to invest $2 billion in Black-owned businesses, more than doubling the number of Black-owned brands on its shelves.

• Target said no policies were reversed or reinstated as a result of conversations with its leadership and described the $2 billion pledge as the completion of an existing commitment.

• The moment gives Target an opening to frame the episode as a reputational reset under new CEO Michael Fiddelke, who met with boycott leaders in recent months.

The intrigue: The protest 'has been unhelpful to Target' and likely had some impact but wasn't the retailer's core problem, Neil Saunders, managing director at GlobalData, told Axios."

#Target can cut prices all day, but I won't forget how they caved to bullying from the Orange One's administration VERY early.

My spending at Target went down 66 PERCENT in 2025, and I've spent $6 there this year. I bet many others are spending elsewhere.
