Sanctions in Science - One year of sanctions. A virtual panel discussion

It is now more than a year, that #Russia invaded #Ukraine. After 24 Feb 2022 many #science organizations and institutes in the western countries imposed #sanctions on scientific #cooperation with Russian and Belorussian scientists, ranging from banning all common publications to replacing the affiliations of Russian #scientists. In the discussion on scientific cooperation, some scientists question even the ideas that science can act as a driver for #peace and that science can build bridges.

Es ist nun mehr als ein Jahr her, dass #Russland in die #Ukraine einmarschiert ist. Nach dem 24. Februar 2022 verhängten viele #Wissenschaftsorganisationen und -institute in den westlichen Ländern #Sanktionen gegen die wissenschaftliche #Zusammenarbeit mit russischen und weißrussischen Wissenschaftlern, die vom Verbot aller gemeinsamen #Veröffentlichungen bis zum kompletten Abbruch der Beziehungen mit russischen Wissenschaftlern reichten. In der Diskussion über die wissenschaftliche Zusammenarbeit stellen einige #Wissenschaftler sogar die Idee in Frage, dass die #Wissenschaft eine treibende Kraft für den #Frieden sein kann und dass die Wissenschaft Brücken bauen kann.

Das #Science4Peace Forum lädt gemeinsam mit #NaturwissenschaftlerInnen für Frieden und Zukunftsfähigkeit e.V. und W&F – Wissenschaft & Frieden zu einer virtuellen #Podiumsdiskussion ein.

Wir wollen mit Experten darüber diskutieren, wie Sanktionen funktionieren, welche Bedingungen für erfolgreiche Sanktionen erfüllt sein müssen, wie sich Sanktionen in der Wissenschaft in den verschiedenen Bereichen auswirken, aber auch über Auswege und die Zukunft der internationalen Zusammenarbeit.
