Recently got myself a new sewing tool as I get into sewing more fitted items.

A notcher!

Loving it, tbh. It's one of those things I wouldn't have thought about, but then I saw it and was like "oh that's brill"

Got the muslin pieces for the Quin Vest cut out!

A pattern piece has been cut out and is laying stacked with the muslin layers. On the top and bottom are two and three notches that have been punched using a small tool that is sitting above the piece. It looks like a hole puncher, but cuts a small oval to take the place of notches.
The pattern is being held down by marble tiles. One reads cut, the other reads "one word, edit" and the last one reads "auf wiedersehen".

Trying to clean up my self-healing cutting mat which is covered in scratches being held open by trapped fibres. I'm using a dampened car-washing sponge to grip them and pull them out, occasionally slightly bending the mat if they're really wedged in, but it's taking AGES. #SewingTools #Sewing

I may have been tempted to buy some more art supplies (mostly paper, this time).

And while I was browsing the new products section of the website, they had poster paper, which I hadn't seen before.

And I remembered that some time ago I saw this tutorial twinsnneedles.com/2020/12/14/m… to make a tool to help pleat fabric.

And I may have accidentally added some poster paper to my shopping cart :D

This is a quick test I did to check whether it would survive being pressed with steam (it does) and which backing to use between more of the same paper and thin cardboard (the latter seems to be working nicely).

I've already glued a bigger pleater, about 30 cm × 30 cm with 1 cm pleats, it's currently drying.

And now I only have to decide what I want to pleat next :D

a scrap of fabric, neatly pleated, and two squares of poster paper, folded and glued to a base, that have been used to form the pleats on the fabric.
