Short #intro: #VisualArtist and #ceramist into #sculpture, #installation and odd #photography & somewhat lapsed #SoundArtist in the #DarkAmbient kind of vein.

Into odd, awkward, niche and forgotten things & places. Feels often odd, akward etc.

I’m giving a ‘special talk’ on April 12 (tomorrow) at 14:00 at @clab.tw 科技媒體實驗平台 in Taipei (Taiwan), about “Temporary and Distributed Libraries, active and independent librarianship”, as part of the great Radiotopia event co-organised by the Toolkit of Care project and C-LAB, with artists and activists using radio as a medium and a concept, curated by @shulea2, and coordinated by @stwst_linz (Linz, Austria) and @agenceapo33 (Nantes, France).

Two years ago I installed one of my Listening Desks at Sussex Library on behalf of The Keep for British Library’s “Unlocking our Sound Heritage” programme. Last week, I De-installed it and it will have a new home at my studio

My latest Ko-Fi blog is about why I love field recording so much. And what I think is the reason I work in sound. The link is below, if you’d like to read it.

#NowPlaying ‘textures of Moisie’ DL

I’ve enjoyed the music and sonic art of John Grzinich for many years now, going way back to his work from the late 1990s/early 2000s: much of it is immersive, extended compositional work that borrows respectfully from—and somehow gives back to—its environment.

John has a 25% discount code for #BandcampFriday today and for the rest of March - spring25

The cover image of John Grzinich’s release ‘Textures of Moisie’, the title superimposed in large letters over a monochrome background of what appear to be sinuous roots stretching across rock or stone.

Track 4 (of five or six) for the new collaborative album is in the books, plus the album cover.

Good progress.

It's called sound design, sweaty. Look it up. 💅 🔊

The screenshot displays the Blender Video Sequence Editor (VSE) interface. The editor timeline below is filled with multiple video and audio strips. At the top, a preview of the video is shown with a countdown timer "02:44" set against a stormy ocean scene.

The left side shows a list of sound effects files used in the video project, like "rain_heavy", "thunder", and others with varying file sizes. On the right side, you see the rendering settings panel where details such as resolution (1920x1080), frame rate (24 fps), and output file format (FFmpeg video) are configured.

In the timeline, audio tracks and video layers are stacked and color-coded for easy editing. A sound wave is visible for some of the sound strips, and there's a video countdown at the bottom-most layer. The interface provides options for keyframing and sound strip properties, as well as video rendering options.

Here’s Lisa testing out antenna reception by throwing it in the air, which produces a satisfying spectrum of signal and is a favourite listening method of ours…

You can now watch the ‘Living Radio Lab’ film, made by the mega talented Francesca Oldfield, in full in our profile above. We feel super lucky to have this wonderful documentation of this time in Struer… and hope the joy of experimenting together transmits over to you 😉📻✨

For #BandcampFriday, may I suggest a listen and maybe cheap purchase of my new album? Alternatively, my entire discography can be had for a little over eight bucks. 🙂
