AI didn’t kill Stack Overflow • InfoWorld

「 Rather than encouraging a wide range of interactions and behaviors, moderators earned reputation by culling interactions they deemed irrelevant. Suddenly, Stack Overflow wasn’t a place to go and feel like you were part of a long-lived developer culture. Instead, it became an arena where you had to prove yourself over and over again 」

@stackoverflow.com surely wants to fade into oblivion. In >10 years using this site I’ve never experienced such hostility than in my latest two questions asked. (stackoverflow.com/q/79650530/1)

If search results point me to it – fine. But I will never interact with the site again. Hello, @reddit, hello -based Q&A tools.

Go the way of , Stackexchange!

Great article on the downfall of StackOverflow. I was a big user (and contributor) back in the day, but I got frustrated when I started seeing most of my questions being closed as off-topic even though I really put a lot of effort into making them well structured. It seems like I intuitively saw the trend in the article.

I don't know how true this is, but I do know that my attempt to answer a question was met with an accusation that I was an AI (I deleted my answer, I decided that no-one deserved to see it after that accusation)

The original Stack Overflow was great. A few years after being sold in June 2021, they started feeding our questions & answers to OpenAI. They did it whether we wanted them to or not, giving us no options to opt-out or delete our data.

Now they have the gall to demand end users verify they are human, presumably because they don't want other unscrupulous entities scraping their website and monetizing our questions and answers.

Fuck them.

I hope they go bankrupt and die.

Stackoverflow is dead indeed, as others are writing about, and not because of AI.

Read MDN on crypto. It says to also get advice from experts. Ask a very specific question on crypto.stackexchange.com. Got accused of outsourcing homework. GFY.

After not participating in the StackOverflow survey the last couple of years, I decided to take it this time. It was so full of questions about AI which should have been skipped after I said I do not use nor plan to use AI in my workflow. Probably will be the last time I take the survey as it has nothing to do with real software development.

Eller kanskje SO bare slutter å være relevant real soon now?

The new #StackOverflow developer #survey is up. Or rather, the new Stack Overflow "Do you love #AI because it's great or because it's awesome?!" survey is up.
