The robins are out in spades and parades lately at the little local arboretum. I love listening to them making their homey, cheery squeaky-toy sounds and foraging in the leaf litter and the treetops. #Thrushday

The incredibly thin top branches rise and spread long, twiggy, wiry fingers that branch out to each side of the central tip like some elaborate fairy antenna, each knobby wire absolutely festooned with dozens of clusters of deep red berries. (For the record, the berries look like the game pieces from Hi-Ho-Cherry-Oh.) Sitting at the top of the tree, in the center of the branching, berry-bower antennae is an American robin--a plump, grey-brown thrush with a gorgeous russet breast and belly--head lifted and looking up and off to our left, where eir friends, of camera, are flying in to join em for a feast.

Hermit Trush has a light colored chest with dark spots halfway down its front. The bird facing the camera and is perched on a branch with half its body obstructed by the branch. You can only see one eye and half of its beak.

Oh, I love a hermit thrush.

Happy #Thrushday from this female varied who visited me this past spring.

Hermit Thrush is a small bird which has a medium brown back with a reddish tail and wing edges. Underside is white with dark brown spots on its neck and chest. Bird is perched on a gray log with green and brown weeds in the background.
