Laika siis alkoi pelätä ukkosta yhtäkkiä vasta pari vuotta sitten. Sinä kesänä oli yhdessä vaiheessa lyhyessä ajassa useita kovia ukkosia, ja yhden moisen aikana aivan tässä meidän päällä olleesta kuului valtava #jyrähdys, ja se oli sitten siinä.

2. thundershirt (compression and anti-static)
3. doggiehush ear muffs
4. couch/lap time
5. treats with every clap of thunder

None of the car rides will be

Once again this year, my neighborhood will sound like a war zone. So once again this year, I will be celebrating the #4thOfJuly driving around farms roads from before dark until probably around 1:00am, searching for a quiet peaceful spot for a terrified dog. 😢💔🐾

(Fireworks are illegal in my home state of #Illinois, but you wouldn't know it from the number of private citizens shooting off M-80s and having private sky shows.)

Thunderstorms scare Joni and she starts to bark and can't stop. I had heard about thunder shirts calming animals and thought of her winter coat which is a tight fit. So now, (usually in the middle of the night, like last night) I stumble downstairs and put her coat on and that seems to calm her down. The cats laugh at her, but she doesn't care.
