NC #Triangle #Covid wastewater data as of May 7, 2025: We're in a pretty good trough. Looking at last year, though, we might be sitting in the calm before a Summer Surge.

A complicated multi-colored bar-chart. Weeks are along the X-axis along the bottom, and Covid-19 wastewater concentrations are represented on the Y (vertical) axis.

The chart shows a full year of Covid-19 wastewater data for Orange, Durham, and Wake counties in NC. The far left (early May 2024) and the far right (early May 2025) are nearly the lowest points on the graph. There is a huge hump taking up most of the left half of the graph, a Covid surge that kicked in mid-June 2024 and lasted through late September.

There is a much lower hump/plateau taking up much of the right side of the graph, a fall/winter Covid surge that started around Thanksgiving 2024 and tapered back off starting in early April 2025.

If 2025 runs like 2024, we have another 5-6 weeks of this trough before things kick off again.
