Ich freue mich auf meinen #TuxedoComputer und bereite mich schon heimlich auf's #Zocken unter #Linux vor und teste die #Firefox Erweiterung " #ProtonDB for #Steam ". So sehe ich im Steam Store direkt die ProtonDB-Wertung. Herrlich. Sonst noch jemand hier im Fediverse unter LInux am Zocken?#Freudeherrscht @tuxedocomputers

Mein #KDE #DesktopPC wird langsam altersschwach (Baujahr 2013). Viele Dinge ziehen sich in die Länge wegen schwächlicher Performance im Vergleich zu meinem Lenovo T14 Laptop.

#Tuxedocomputer hätte da einen MiniPC der mir als Arbeitspferd dienen könnte.

Yes, once you're used to a fanless device, the slightest noise is annoying. ARM devices could become standard in the next few years, but it will certainly be a while before major manufacturers switch over and adopt them. For Linux in particular, at least Tuxedo-Computer from Augsburg/Germany has already announced a notebook with ARM and Tuxedo OS for the end of the year.

I'm not really known for reacting calmly to technical problems - and this time, too, Cuddly Bear became a volcano.

My Minisforum 780 XTX briefly gave up the ghost, but worked again the next day, albeit only briefly. There is no more image output via DP, only via USB4, and then only if the DC cable was not connected and the power came via the USB4 cable plugged into the monitor.

Yesterday afternoon there was no picture here either, and no power. Completely dead since then. No attempts to bring the box back to life have worked, and even shouting at it, swearing and jumping in circles didn't help - the thing flew across the room. 😡

So one thing is certain for me: never again a mini PC. Instead, I'm thinking about buying a midi-tower system from Tuxedo Computers and supporting a real Linux company in its work. I really like this model:

Hat jemand #ubuntu 22.04 aus Tuxedoquellen auf seinem #tuxedocomputer ? Kein Snap-Store? @tuxedocomputers

I looked into the source code of the kernel module and found out that the code was checking the wrong DMI field. I changed it and tadaaaaa, keyboard backlight is now white at 1/4 the brightness level ❤

well ... last disconnection was due to ... CPU overheat and emergency shutdown !

it was some times already the laptop was too noisy, so this time I turned it on it's head, remove the cover, dismounted the cpu and gpu blowers to ... take out all the dust that had formed some sort of tissue plug. (quite delicate operation... take care of not moving anything else... )
then rebuild and rescrew
and ... haaa ... what a confort ... can work in tranquility now again :)
