Postally unused.

Fairly good condition, with slight corner bumps, but small crease to right centre top.

We also had a visit to Ullapool. It was busy, which I wasn't really expecting.

We did have a pleasant walk along the river. Apart from the man with a black lab (maybe roti cross) who wasn't keeping it under any sort of control. Friendly enough, but a big lad to have bouncing around and causing chaos.

Beinn Dearg range from the end of Loch Glascarnoch. Grass and heather flat ground gives way to moraines, and then a bunch stony mountains. It's a bit of a scene rather than a great subject.

Skye amongst the grasses on the banks of the entrance to the Ullapool River. Behind is the golf course and sparsely populated higher ground.

Notre étape du soir est à Ullapool. Une toute petite localité de 1300 habitants. Elle explose avec son front de mer et ses vacanciers au camping les pieds dans l’eau ainsi que le car-ferry à destination de Stornoway (Hébrides extérieures). C’est en gros un port de pêcheur et de loisirs auquel s’ajoute deux rues principales en parallèle de ce dernier et en pente. Une agréable étape du soir.

Excellent crossing to & from #Ullapool in the last couple of days. I don’t even know what #ferry I was on this time as safety considerations mean you can’t easily see the thing from outside and it was dark both ways. But. #CalMac & their shipyard have actually got the ventilation right. This is the first MV I’ve been on in my life that wasn’t permeated by a smell of marine diesel exhaust. So one main factor in #nausea is gone. And a smooth crossing both ways, but that’s down to chance.

At the Ceilidh Place clubhouse we saw Shooglenifty and it was non stop dancing from start to finish. Superb talent on display (On the stage not the floor)
My feet and legs are not pleased with me today.
There was also a fabulous moon to guide the walk back to the car.

Na, ob der Tag hält, was der Sonnenaufgang verspricht? Genaueres dann auch später in der Podcast Folge. Bis dahin erst mal ein paar Bilder und Text.

Die Überschrift beschreibt ja schon mal, was wir heute vorhaben und so ging es mit dem Auto wieder ein Stück nach Norden, wir wollten zuerst zu den Black Water Falls. Leider kein Geheimtipp mehr und demzufolge ist dort immer Besuch.

Nach etlichen Fotos und gegessenen Blaubeeren, sind wir weiter Richtung Cromarty. Dazu aber über Dingwall, dem Cromarty Firth auf der Nordseite gefolgt, bis zu Brücke über diesen und auf der anderen Seite gleich wieder links ab, um nach Cromarty zu kommen. Cromarty selber war leider voll mit Menschen und Touristen, so das wir uns hier nicht weiter aufgehalten haben und weiter Richtung Süden. Meine Frau hatte eine Bothy am Ufer der Nordsee auf der Karte gefunden und die wollten wir besuchen gehen.

Ich mag ja solche Schätze, sie bedeuten mir mehr als vieles andere. Und Steine gibt es hier, viele und noch mehr mit interessanten Formen, Farben usw.

Da wir ja schon mal in der Gegend sind und auf dem Rückweg ja sowieso vorbei kommen, wird ein Stopp am Chanonry Point gemacht. Es kann ja sein, das zufälliger Weise, die Delphine gerade wieder da sind. Der Leuchtturm ja auf alle Fälle und der Golfplatz auch. Den muss ich irgendwann noch mal spielen. Allein wie der gelegen ist, muss man das mal machen.

Jetzt beginnt es etwas wild zu werden, das ganze erzählen wir im Podcast. jedenfalls hat es uns dann erst hin und dann wieder zurück verschlagen, so das wir noch mal nach Avoch gefahren sind. Den Ortsnamen spricht man „Ouch“ aus, nur damit ihr nicht allzu sehr hier auffallt. jedenfalls gab es hier das leckste Indian Takeawy ever. Also dort unbedingt halt machen und Essen kaufen. So wie im kleinen Tante Emmaladen nebenan.

Aber auch so ein Tag geht mal zu Ende und so sind wir Abends wieder am Zeltplatz in Bunchrew eingetroffen. Zuerst sah es ja nach einem tollen Lichterfeuerwerk aus aber dann sind der Sonne und uns, doch ein paar Wolken dazwischen gekommen. Schön war es trotzdem.

Wieder einmal liegt ein Umzug an und auch der Urlaub neigt sich leider dem letzten Drittel zu. Inverness liegt meist bei uns auf dem Weg gen Newcastle und schließt einen Teil der Reise ab.

Davor aber, erst noch Frühstück und heiße Tasse Tee am Loch Broom

Auch noch mal die Uferpromenade begucken, so lange im Zelt alles pennt, habe ich ja genügend Zeit.

Die Fahrt von Ullapool nach Inverness ist jetzt kein Hexenwerk und in rund 2 Stunden zu schaffen. Dazu sind wir die schon zu oft gefahren und machen sicher nur einen oder zwei Stopps, für Fotos. Sind ja eben doch nur Touristen, wenn auch Dauertouristen 😉

Die Nordsee und der Moray Firth haben uns dann aber auch gleich mit reichlich Wind empfangen. Wind scheint es in diesem Jahr in Schottland reichlich zu geben. Warm genug für Kurze Hosen und tShirt aber der Wind kühlt einem massiv aus, also doch eher Pullover und Jacke.

Am Abend dann das Ereignis, weswegen unsere Kinder so gern her kommen, so gegen 21 Uhr kommt der Eiswagen….
