About a decade ago, on one of my visits back to Boston, a friend of mine’s older brother gave me a box of about 30 records that had been sitting in his attic since the late 80s.

A lot of it was fringe-y collegiate indie rock, and to be honest, most of it did nothing for me. Except THIS.

Pretty cool and jaunty #indie #alternative rock that did more than hold my attention.

The opener, “Celtic” has a snakey, hypnotic, Zeppelin-y feel to it. It sets a bizarre tone, because the rest of the album is a bit different.
Different, but equally killer.

Going from “Celtic” to “Understanding Kiss” is a drastic shift from heavy #70s hard rock to R.E.M. or Feelies-ish indie.

The guitar work on this album is particularly stellar, and deserves a shout out.

It’s a pretty captivating record, and I always forget it until I put it on again.
