#TIL that two states (ME, VT) and Washington DC allow voting by people who are currently incarcerated. And that my state, #washington , is debating a bill to allow it too. I say yes. If we're going to imprison people under the guise of "rehabilitation," then we should actually do things that try to rehabilitate.
Ugh. Why are #WADems choosing to govern like this? Don't we believe that effective government can help solve some of our collective problems, and build a more just, safe, prosperous, sustainable, and equitable society? If so, why try to cram all the governing into a short window?
