#WPATHFiles

2024-03-24

An account called "A Wider Lens", the name of the #podcast run by #ConversionTherapy proponent Stella O'Malley has been quietly editing the #Wikipedia entry for Michael Shellenberger, co-author of the so-called #WPATHfiles. That account has also modified the #Genspect entry, of which O'Malley is the founder. She has also co-founded Killarney Group, which seeks to write an "alternate standards of care" for trans youth. #Trans #TransRights #transgender #lgbtq #wiki #wikimedia

transphobes lie at a rate of approximately 1.01 lies per page. 1.51 if you remove the introduction, which is essentially just commentary.

Have you heard about the #WPATHfiles

WELP now you're going to, from me. I spent all day looking into this collection of hundreds forum posts from WPATH members, which has been widely touted by anti-trans activists as a blockbuster expose of WPATH.

I analyzed them all, independently, and what I came up with is that they're completely unremarkable and these nutty activists wasted my whole damn day with this shit. #trans #news

So, over on Xitter, Michael Shellenberger has released the ominously named #WPATHFiles as part of a supposed exposΓ© of the nefariousness of #WPATH.

A quick scan through his first tranche of material looks a whole lot like a carefully curated bunch of discussions between professionals asking complex questions - but they have been removed from substantive context in order to make the things look as bad as possible.

This isn’t investigative journalism, and Genspect seems to be in the middle.
