@wurzelmann @hansaplast42 LG wurde 2013 bereits dabei erwischt, dass deren TVs beim Anschluss von USB-Stick oder Festplatte eine Liste mit dem Inhalt des Datenträgers erstellt und an #LG übertragen haben.
Such mal nach Konsequenzen für diesen Vorfall...

So setting up of LG TV with webOS. First impression is that they gave up completely on usability, first suggestion is always to use other device.

A palm Veer running a new webOS with a modern processor and a good camera would be *chef's kiss*. Gimme back that Just Type, Touch to Share, Touchstone Charging and add USB-C...Enyo was gorgeous.
Hell, Twain woulda been a killer tablet.

@Rusty @dragonarchitect I disagree re: webOS and FirefoxOS.
#webOS failed due to lack of market penetration (there was only like 1 Tablet from #hp) and #FirefoxOS failed because @mozillaofficial didn't even offer to sell devices to folks like me and @fuchsiii that wanted one.
- The only devices with #Firefox OS in the #EU were a few #NetLock'd #prepaid phones that got sold in Spain (reqiring ID for no valid reason!) and which were essentially useless for anyone outside of Spain.
Add to that the absurdity that #Mozilla basically expected carriers (!!) to maintain and provide the #AppStore|s themselves and you get market fracturing worse than the "P.R." #China (!!!)…
It was mismanaged and self-sabotaged in the worst possible way.
- Similar to how #OLPC never sold the #XO1 in retail and didn't even offer the "Give one, Get one" deal in most places...
The #Duopoly of #Android & #iOS wasn't unavoidable, but an outcome of #SelfSabotage and halfassed non-commitment by competitors!
@Rusty @dragonarchitect well, it's because @mozillaofficial fucked up #FirefoxOS, #SailfishOS was run into the ground, #webOS got neglected, #Microsoft halfassed #WindowsMobile and #Apple refuses to license #iOS to 3rd parties.
- Thus #Android is the only option if you device doesn't want to look like it's from the early 2000s...

It says very clearly in the linked article that they're still supporting Manifest v2. Adding Manifest v3 by itself doesn't hobble ad blockers, adding it and also removing Manifest v2 does. They're not doing that, unlike Chromium.

In their (meagre) defence, they are attempting to no longer be reliant on Google as their sugar daddy (which is very obviously problematic), but they're going about it in the dumbest, most corporate and ham-fisted way imaginable.
I haven't seen this much cluelessness since the "death throes" days of RIM/Blackberry and Palm, Inc. :'(
(And heck, Palm was innovating like mad until the bitter end. It was just too little*, too late).
It blows my freaking mind that people in this thread are like, "Welp, I guess it's back to Chrome/Edge."
If that's anyone's answer to #Mozilla's stupid gaffes, then they might as well pack up today. The Techbros have won.
To be clear, I'm hella NOT ok with what Mozilla is doing, or has been doing for the past couple years.
But I'm sure as heck not going back to Chrome, or anything Blink-based, as long as I can avoid it.

Nice thing about the new stick is installing #APKs. I installed #Kodi on it and #NewPipe bye #YouTube #ads. The stick was cheaper than updating from the #RaspberryPi3 that was running #Libreelec but couldn't keep up to the Kodi #addons

Sneaky sneaky LG, not letting me update apps on my TV unless I unblock the advertising DNS addresses...
Habe mich mit LG #SmartTV 65EF950V (#webOS) und SAT-Programm gespielt.
Bei einer beieits zu 2/3 laufenden Sendung (deren Anfang ich nie gesehen habe) im #ORF habe ich auf "geplante Aufnahme" im Programmguide gedrückt, den SAT-Sender nochmal kurz manuell gewechselt und dann den Fernseher via Fernbedienung einfach abgeschaltet.
Nach einiger Zeit wieder eingeschaltet und siehe da: die Sendung war im entsprechenden Aufnahmeordner am USB-Stick komplett(!) inklusive etwas Werbung davor und daher auch inkl. Anfang der Sendung als Videodatei vorhanden. 😲 🤔
Kann mir das jemand erklären?
Woher kam der Anfang? Hat LG hier eine Verbindung zur ORF #MediaThek?
Wieso kann ich während der Aufnahme auch Sender wechseln? Hat der zwei separate Empfangseinheiten?
