I *think* this was one of the pieces I listened to on the “Hearts of Space” channel for the first time on a Pan-Am flight from the US to the UK in 1986 — I'm fairly sure I still have the in-flight magazine somewhere which I annotated to remind me which #WindhamHill albums to buy when I got home. I have the poster inserts from a couple of #PhilipAaberg albums on the wall in my office.

Since this came out the year before #WilliamAckerman founded #WindhamHill I'd guess their signature album cover design was (ahem) heavily influenced by Island Records.

Soul of the machine - the Windham Hill Sampler of New Electronic Music, from 1987.
This was the second sampler for Windham Hill, following the Piano sampler. One insert repeats the tracks while the other makes mention of 4 video laserdiscs produced by Pioneer for Windham Hill.

Another couple sleeper #synth #NewAge #jazz gems I picked up this year: both the S/T and Design from Interior. The S/T was produced in part by Haruomi #Hosono of #YMO fame. It is virtuosic and spacious, with more to hear on each listen. If YouTube comments are to be believed, the Japanese pressing of the S/T seems to have a different mix and slightly different tracklist. A tired old copy of Mark Isham's transcendent foray into electronic #production. The sleeve has seen better days, but this wax still sound so good. You might say this #Ambient #NewWave album invented what would become #Vaporwave. An instant favourite for me. 80s ambient is rarely this good.
If you ever come across an album published on #WindhamHill Records, buy it. It will sound better than most of the #vinyl in your collection.
