#WineASIO

2026-01-29

I went and looked at the WineASIO compile process, and it looks like it's really easy.

When bridging solutions are in question (ie yabridge, LinVST3, Carla, etc) there's always WineASIO.

I've finally nailed down the #music studio setup, and can say for music I'm 95% migrated to #Linux (with some #Windows dependence still due to drivers required for programming one of my #synths).

Using a #system76 tower with #Arch, running #FLStudio with #WineASIO (finally works! no latency from synths!), #lmms, and #Ardour.

Next project is migrating #Tidalcycles from #VSCodium to #Vim (maybe?)

Why we do not have easy peezy ASIO on Linux? #WineASIO

With Linux 6.10 #ntsync driver combined with #wineasio you can get better #Windows than native Windows is for audio in some ways.

FL Studio is fast and smooth and you can do incremental backups for your full audio setup by simply archiving the wine folder. E.g. try a random plugin and revert back to previous wine folder after the experiment with all the crap cleaned up.
