YES THEY WERE.
We collected 5,000 unreported Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) in Iraq. They were chemical weapons (which the international treaty that establishes what counts as WMD states includes chemical weapons).
The warheads were collected and stored in a facility that was seized by ISIS in 2014.
It's unfortunate that this lie is being repeated by the U.S. News Media almost every day as they talk about the Trump administration's lies.
The Bush administration made some mistakes but their national intelligence assessment DID accurately project that we would find thousands of chemical warheads AND hundreds of tons of yellowcake uranium in Iraq.

A related point is that conventional deterrent (and any non-nuclear #WMD) is *uncertain*: it is extremely difficult to calculate or assess in advance how much damage it would cause. How much a war would cost. Which feeds to the potential aggressor's bias to underestimate the defender's deterrent.
Do you remember when ISIS seized those chemical weapons (Weapons of Mass Destruction) from Iraq in 2014? Those would be the same WMD people continue to deny existed even today.
It just blows me away how much people want to lie about the Iraq War. I never really supported it much - and the one reason I did think it might be justified turned out to be Tony Blair's misinterpretation of a UNICEF analysis that concluded there were 500,000 excess child deaths in Iraq from 1991 - 1998 as a result of the U.N. sanctions. That study was later challenged by several other institutions, who argued that Saddam's government had inflated the child mortality data in an effort to win international sympathy (hoping to have the sanctions withdrawn).
