Zalia stands at the entrance of a fortress made up of greenish teal tiles. She's in a canoe in the water. A waterfall covers the entrance. Beyond the waterfall are an obelisk and two large statues of a horned figure wielding a spear. The sky outside is a brightly-colored sunset sky of blurple, orange, and gold.

I finished #Zelda2, but...well, I'm not gonna lie. I didn't have much fun with it. And that's despite the ease of use romhack that I had installed i.e.

No XP lost on death.
Restart at the beginning of the room even after a game over.
Without these two I wouldn't even have finished it. Especially the final temple is extremely hateful. It's very far away from the Northern Temple and there's a ton of brutal sidescrolling sections on the way (thank God I never had to walk all the way). And the temple itself has absolutely hateful enemy placement, e.g. lots of these puny slime enemies right next to an instant death lava pit, hidden blocks where you fall through and a bunch of tough enemies that drain your health.
I ended up finishing the game with 41 game overs and while I'm somewhat glad that I got to make up my own mind about Zelda 2... well, again, it wasn't that much fun. 😬

While everybody's taking their Switch 2 for a spin, I'm still banging my head against #Zelda2. 😅

But I gave up on the vanilla game and instead patched it with the Redux romhack.

I also included the optional patch to restart at the beginning of the room when I gameover. Yes, it makes the game super easy, but I feel a strong "I get it" for the original design.

And where I was previously ready to give up on the game, I now breezed through the next two temples. 3 down, 5 more to go. 💪
