One of the things I really like about #ATaleOfTwoCities is that #Dickens doesn’t pull any punches in describing how awful the aristocracy was to the poor, but he also doesn’t condone the Reign of Terror, either. That’s the sort of nuance that seems hard to accomplish. Read a book recentlyish which built on the #ScarletPimpernel, and it failed to call any condemnation down on the former rulers of France. Made me angry. (Not it’s only flaw, btw.)
