The village of Mürren lies on a terrace above the steep rockfaces of Mirrenflue. The Lauterbrunnen Valley is very well known for its options for basejumping. Jumping down the Mirrenflue is one of the many places for that.

Successful BASE jump... but not, unfortunately, a successful landing, at the Grand Canyon

NPS: On Thursday, August 1, at approximately 7:30 a.m., the Grand Canyon Regional Communications Center received a report of a visitor who had attempted a BASE jump from Yavapai Point on the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park. Park rangers responded and located the body of a deceased male approximately 500 feet below the rim, along with a deployed parachute.
