🎵 Super Trouper
Always kind of wanted to make a #Cycles camera obscura in #Blender. Was kind of tough getting everything arranged right, and to get the pinhole the right size, but the result is interesting. It was a fun little experiment. I could get much better results by making the pinhole a bit smaller and cranking up the render samples way more. This here is already at 100k samples, which is bonkers high. I could probably cheat to get the render looking much better at fewer cycles, but that doesn't feel in the spirit of the experiment.
All models and the background scene are from Poly Haven. I haven't packaged them with the blend file, but you can easily find them or replace them with your own.

"In an era of digital technology and one-click ease, John Chiara prefers a complex, analog approach to making photographs. The artist designs and builds large-format cameras by hand and tows his gear on a flatbed trailer from place to place. Making photographs in this way takes great physical effort, patience, and forethought but results in luminescent and evocative images. Landscapes are a favorite subject for Chiara. This just happened and I am pretty excited because this is the first time I've ever seen it naturally!!! Whatever way the skylight window was open it created a pinhole camera and the room just happened to be dark enough that it created a Camera Obscura! The video I took was horrific quality, so here are 24 photos that I *tried* to crop and edit equally to render the idea - bad quality but not as bad as the video. 😂
It may not look impressive now, but it was cool at the time - I promise! 😂✨

The #CameraObscura at the Cliff House.
Something weird happened here. The sky looks dirty, and look at the horizontal row of dots. A couple shots came out this way, but the shots before and after are fine. I suspect the film a bit. I have bought some oddball brands. I need to actually keep notes about what I'm using for which pictures.
The top version is scanned with a Wolverine Saturn, the bottom with a film scanner.
Also putting a cropped version of the Saturn scan to make what I'm talking about more visible.
