@FuturisticRobert in fact @osmocom has proudly tested their #GSM setups at multiple #C3 events like #ChaosCommunicationCongress and #CCCamp...

Tho they obviously have to jump through all the #SpectrumRegulation hurdles not just with @BNetzA but also at least one licensed #MNO and kindly ask them if they could use part of their spectrum for such a test network.

I'm shure @LaF0rge has more details re: said hoops...

But yeah, on many events one could get a #SIM and recently even #eSIM|s that work onsite. Which is good because #GSM is way more scalable than #DECT and also having a big number of real users testing a cleanroom implementation of GSM is kinda important...

@webmink maybe some #legacy #Networking fans want some #MAUI / #AUI and other partd for #Retro-#Ethernet?

If you have like a #Serial / #Parallel "#EthernetModem", let me know.

Im Zentrum des Bildes sind mehrere einstöckige Holzhäuser mit teilweise beleuchteten Fenstern und fehlenden Dachschindeln.

Links davon steht ein Strom- oder Telefonmast mit einem kleinen, rechteckigen, schwarzen Turm daneben, der einen Ring aus grünleuchtendem Neonlicht hat. Vom Boden des obersten Stockwerkes hängen über die gesamte Länge jeder Seite dicke Kabel nach unten. Manche gehen zu den Häusern, andere liegen lose verlegt über die Wohnstraße im Vordergrund.

Im Hintergrund stehen zwei riesige, runde Türme mit Ringen aus rotem Neonlicht beleuchtet. Jeder Abschnitt zwischen den Ringen verjüngt sich nach oben, der Abschnitt darüber ist aber wieder genauso breit wie der vorherige an der Unterseite. Vom Boden des obersten Sichtbaren Abschnitts knapp unterhalb des rot leuchtenden Ringens gehen sehr viele Kabel in alle Richtungen schräg nach unten ab. Die Kabel der beiden großen Türme scheinen sich im Hintergrund sogar teilweise zu kreuzen.

Very long shot: At the #cccamp 2015 there was a food stand that made apple fritters (Apfelkrapfen). The people were really nice and the Krapfen were really good.
Unfortunately, I didn't get a name and I haven't seen them at any other event since. Does anyone know them and maybe if they still operate? :BoostOK:

Hi everyone, there's news it's happening! Cebula Camp by Polish hackerspaces will happen in Wrocław (Breslau), 28-31 August 2025. A fancy website: cebula.camp/en

A large fenced area for tents, around an old tram depot.

An outdoor meetup of hackers, organized by members of Polish #hackerspaces who yearned for what they know from Chaos Communication Camp #cccamp #cccamp23
(And once already successfully met up at a Cebula Camp that was then just a large online collaborative text pad to write yourself into.)

Wrocław has in recent years gotten particularly easier to get to via Berlin, thanks to new train connections. I do have my hopes up <3

(and you know what, boosts are welcome!)

* Cebula means onion, Cebula means Poles. We Poles dress in layers and call that "na cebulkę". Onion is also cheap while pungent and healthy, so we fry it a lot into glassy texture. And then call our countryfolx cheap — in jest, by calling ourselves all onions.

I also presume the tickets to not cost much (and even possible to joke about them being a "cebula deal" of coming to a hacker camp). But you'll also possibly find some of the attendees-to-be and organizers at #WHY2025 !

Für alle, die wie ich zum ersten Mal zum #bornhack kommen, aber #MCH und #cccamp kennen: #bornhack hat keinen Spätie, keine Engelküche, sondern nur -1- Foodtruck, dafür aber eine große Küche zum Selberkochen. Auf jeden Fall also eigene Vorräte mitbringen! Insgesamt wesentlich familiärer und kleiner, d.h. weniger Toiletten und Duschen, alle Unisex. Bezahlt werden kann mit eigener Währung HAX,die per NFC-Kreditkarte oder Mobile Pay (DK Besonderheit?) auf dem Camp erworben werden können

@eventphone Wir sind rund 600 Studierende in #München und uns wurde am 01.07. einfach das #Internet abgestellt ohne Ankündigung. Nun befinden wir uns in der #Klausurphase und können uns nur sehr eingeschränkt vorbereiten. Ich fand eure Aktion auf dem #CCCamp mit der eigenen SIM Karte (habe sie immer bei mir) unglaublich spannend. Gibt es eine Möglichkeit wie wir uns schnell wieder online bekommen?

@ripper Das Modell erlaubt es auch am #CCCamp entspannt durch eine mittlere Apokalypse durchzuschlafen oder auf der #ViennaPride neben einem Truck zu spazieren.

Schließe mich der Empfehlung an!
