So #ArchLinux's current TLS stack has issues when connecting to C.IM over HTTPS. In what has become a pretty weird bug with some armwrestling between Mozilla and Cloudflare, the workaround was thankfully quite easy to implement:

The question leading up to the race for me was whether to start.
I was in the position I've heard so much about,
the injured state that runners all over the world share,
the agony of confronting rest,
the fear of confronting not running,
the mental games balancing rest, pain,
fitness and despair.

Murakami was my running trigger and I have assimilated his "never skip two days" since starting ten years ago. The way my Achilles is now, I'm afraid I may have to rest two or even three days. Afraid, because running is the only way I've found to manage #depression , and drops in mileage go poorly for me. At least life continues to present new challenges. I might need to go on a music playing bender. Yes, lesson learned. I'm so glad I stopped mid course.
Thing is, this day can be pretty and chill but the mind is on the #cim

Now it's race time. Oh my goodness. Those of you who do it, know. 26 and change is a long freaking haul and my no means assured for anyone. I've scaled my expectations back a bit and the mind feels good about it.
A new version of check_esxi_hardware, an #opensource #monitoring plugin to monitor the hardware of VMware ESXi servers, is available.
The newest release fixes a #Python deprecation warning. More importantly the new version removes support for legacy and meanwhile EOL versions of Python2 and pywbem 0.7.0.
As the purpose of check_esxi_hardware is to query the #CIM server on an #ESXi server - which will be removed - this may be the last and final release of the plugin. 😿

Now that I’m tapering for the marathon, the antsyness and lack of confidence is moving in. Thing is, I won’t know until 2.5 hours into the race whether it will “go well” or not. And all reports say prepare for a tough one — the “net downhill” is true but not a good reflection of what to expect.
In my favor:
* I eat hills for breakfast.
* There will be pacers.
* I've been able to meet goal pace in training consistently.
* Age "gives" me extra qualification buffer.
Flooding in Sebastopol.
Long run while tapering - "How pleasant to run less" "Oh crep it's two weeks until the race"

As a non-tech runner today's attempt was not set up for success. The bill was a 20 mile run at race pace. I'm sure I started much too fast. I probably settled into the right pace around mile 5. But at 15 I was really struggling. The last five was half walking and half shambling.
Not the most confidence-building run. But I did make it. And I'll be happy for the pacers at CIM.
