Should I go with the grey or the purple? The purple fits for a magical forest but the grey is less busy and doesn’t detract focus from the Unicorn. Sorry about the quality, it’s 260x360 pixels and will eventually be a Twin sized #crochet blanket. I would love to know what y’all think, advice is welcome! Still fine tuning things on my submission for the #craftalong It still has a ways to go but I am happy with the direction its going. I must have changed the background colors about 50 times at least. Idk what to do with the top, it needs something but idt the mossy fringe is it. A unicorn (specifically the Unicorn/Lady Amalthea from The Last Unicorn movie, based on the book by Peter S. Beagle) rests on a mossy mound surrounded by lilac bushes, trees, and small blossoms. The uicorn is white with blue hair and a purple horn and eyes, the grass and moss are green, as well as the bulk of the trees behind her. The flowers on the trees are pink while the ones on the mound are dandelion tufts and small pink and yellow blooms.

This is identical to the previous image only there is a swath of mossy fringe in the upper third of the image.

So I lied. I did apply for Desert Bus. BUT not with sewing. Meet Desert Bus a coloring book. Even if not accepted it's making me draw, I'm aiming for a min of 25 images. #desertbus #craftalong #db2025

I put in the submission today and worked a little more on the artwork. I am happy with where it is going but it'll be difficult to find the right balance of depth for the final piece. If I make it too complex I will struggle with time but if I make it too simple it won't come across well in the end product. In 2023, I made a prop Cannon from Megaman Battle Network. It was donated to Desert Bus' Craft-Along fundraiser.

I finally learned a good deal of Fusion360 to create a 3D model. I took the model into Pepakura Designer to make 2D templates to build the majority from EVA foam. Some details were 3D printed.

I couldn't have finished it in time without the help of my family doing some odd jobs 🥰

Got a last bit of design in before shipping off, I'll probably redraw some figures when I get back but it's feeling like I'm close to being able to start cutting! It's going to be a heck of a finishing challenge...

Been radio silent on here for a second. Gonna try and be back now. Starting with: It's the time of year I start looking for my Desert Bus #craftalong project. I've got two ideas, and already have all the yarn for both of them so...maybe I try and pitch a two-fer?

Okay, first thoughts of a potential 2025 #CraftAlong project. A sketchbook cover built around an 8 1/2 x 11 inch pad.

Composite construction, hardwood and leather with chicago screws or rivets to attach the frame and leather to the cover.

Front cover is 2 hardwood boards joined by a resin filled chasm with surrounding decorations.

The back is made of 4 pieces joined by a resin middle, all DB shift themed.

Does that strike anyone else as fun, or am I going wildly off towards nowhere?

All right, time for my #DesertBus #DB2025 #Craftalong thread! I'm getting an early start on the project I didn't manage to finish for last year. Partly because my main SSD died, partly beause I *spilled ink on 2/3 of the artwork*. Still very frustrated at last year's outcomes. =(

First off: vectoring some silhouettes, part of the work I lost in the great SSD controller death of 2024!
