I harnessed the powers of hyperfixation, self-loathing, and unflinching determination to beat #Cuphead
The game is beautifully drawn and also punishingly difficult. Obnoxiously so. Normal is hard. I'm not a #platformer (or a Shmup fan) but the game is looking for precise timing and positioning in response to telegraphed cues.
I got used to retrying a boss fight from scratch if I got hit too early, because I needed to perform the first 1-2 stages flawlessly to have enough health/meter to survive the final stages. I necessarily had fewer reps playing those stages, so I had to make it up by perfecting earlier ones.
It's not that far from a fighting game that way, except single player and much much longer. I guess it's closer to a Soulslike then...
Spread shot and either Roundabout or Chaser are all you need, but the real MVP is the Smoke Bomb charm that actually provides a few moments of invincibility on your dash.
It was fun. Engaging, but I have no desire to return to it or collect A ranks or play "expert" mode. Fuck all that noise. We're done here.
@AllKeysGDS and I frequently "trade" games. She bought this but hated it, so I played it. I think we're even after how hard I bounced off of Sea Of Stars
