Mukinalusista on hyötyä.

Nälkäpeli kirjasarja on yksí tällainen.
Viidennen kirjan luen digitaalisessa muodossa.

'Thousands of people who are born deafblind will understand live conversations for the first time thanks to new research into smart textiles being developed by Nottingham Trent University (NTU).
This world-first study will eventually allow the spoken word to be translated into a form of braille and communicated through e-textiles gloves to the fingers of people who cannot hear or lipread.'
As it is the start of the month I shall do some shameless promoting of https://ourblind.com/ for all the #blind, #deafblind, #lowvision, and #visuallyimpaired people around. @main @mastoblind
With all the changes going on at RNIB I’ve started looking into NFB UK but I’ve no idea how effective it is. Are many other #blind, #PartiallySighted or #Deafblind people in the UK on here members of it, and what do you think of it as an organisation?
HEAPS of things to check out in this week's edition of the #Deafblind Association NZ newsletter :)

I'm visiting the #USA for the #CSUNATC25 conference. Buying coffee, I got the perfect #coin in change for a #blindness / #accessibility related conference: a 2003 Alabama quarter featuring Helen Keller.
This was the first US circulating coin to feature a representation of Braille (there was a non-circulating 1996 Paralympics coin).
A little on Helen Keller from Wikipedia: "American author, disability rights advocate, political activist and lecturer. Born in West Tuscumbia, Alabama, she lost her sight and her hearing after a bout of illness when she was 19 months old.
Keller attended Radcliffe College of Harvard University and became the first deafblind person in the United States to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree."

had an interesting project request come across my desk.
A #deafblind client can no longer listen and is missing out on talk radio. how easy would it be to set up a receiver that output text they could read in Braille?
I can presumably get a raspberry pi to start streaming inbound audio either from an SDR or the web. is it viable to use something like #Whisper to then pipe that out somewhere?
I don't want to necessarily store data, although that could be useful I suppose, but the real aim is to have the transcript as close to real time as possible coming out over a local network connection (telnet, probably, for prototyping).
Anyone have any experience of this?
