Modigliani (1884 - 1920) was an Italian #draftsman, #painter, and #sculptor, known for his scandalous nude #paintings.

He was handsome, drank heavily, took drugs, and lived his short life to the fullest.
He often depicted the human form and referenced the #Renaissance and African #art in his works.He did not identify with any art movement.

Amedeo Clemente Modigliani was an Italian draftsman, painter, and sculptor, known for his scandalous nude paintings which gained acceptance only later. He spent his youth in Italy, studying the art of antiquity and the Renaissance, before moving to Paris in 1906, where he met renowned artists such as Pablo Picasso and Constantin Brâncuși. Modigliani's life was marked by lung diseases and he recognized his calling to art in a feverish dream. He died of tuberculosis at the age of 35. His work mainly consisted of paintings and drawings, with a brief period of focus on sculpture. He frequently depicted the human form and often referenced the Renaissance and African art in his works. Modigliani did not identify with any contemporary art movement, but his art gained popularity and high prices only after his death.
