Updating from my #alpinelinux laptop... because typing on the #postmarketos #gnome shell is really challenging/unforgiving both in terms of latency and accuracy.
I was not a fan of #firefox, especially with the bottom address bar, so I used console to install #epiphany via:
$ doas apk add epiphany
Not only does epiphany look better on the phone, but it also allows me to install web apps, which I did for #thelounge, a web-based #irc client.
I'm posting this from #epiphany running on the latest #postmarketos that I just flashed on a OnePlus 6 that a friend gave me.
Though far from perfect, I'm really digging #gnome on mobile and look forward to playing around with this!
Cool #easteregg in #epiphany: You can get a snapshot of a whole webpage by saving it as a .PNG, as shown below.
I discovered this because #alpinelinux just pushed an update for the web browser and I went to the gitlab to checkout the changes and found this commit:

My friend tells me that #firefox also has this feature, which is neat.
Vertical tabs in Firefox with grouping and so on is probably my favorite ff UI change in a very long time. I so wish that Gnome Web (#epiphany) included the same feature, bacause fact is, I'd rather not use firefox simply because of where its core funding comes from.

So out of curiosity, in response to a post I saw from someone the other day, I checked and "#Gnome Web", also called "#Epiphany" has an option for mouse gestures. Just turned it on and tested it and sure enough a two finger swipe on my laptop trackpad goes back and forth between pages, 🙂
#Brave has an option for it and it's enabled but I can't seem to get it to work.
#Firefox has it enabled by default and it works fine.

It's a long weekend in my state of WA, but I work on NSW public holidays, so I have to wait an extra week. Never mind -- I've also booked some days of leave so I'm looking forward to a long, long weekend.
I'm going to meet up with at least one friend, do a heap of weeding and reading and cooking, and also clean the house. I feel as though when I was younger, I would not have been excited to clean the house. Maybe it's a middle-aged thing.
One of the kids' friends was hanging out in our kitchen the other night while I was making tea. He told me how they had a large spare room but that they didn't have anyone over because their house was a mess.
And I said, 'I know what you mean. Then again, our house is also a mess, but somehow people still come over and don't seem to mind that much.' And we laughed together about that (because he was over and doesn't seem to mind that much)!
It was one of those times when words come out of your mouth and you realise it was completely new thought you'd not said aloud before but also was totally true.
I still would like a cleaner, tidier house. I love it when the kitchen bench is empty of stuff and the washing up is all done. But maybe I have moved on from a deep sense of shame at not having coffee-table-magazine-level of home presentation and gained the perspective of 'the people who really matter don't care and will probably even wash up if I asked them to'.
I do love a good and unexpected epiphany (I guess all epiphanies are unexpected, but you know what I mean).

After installing a fresh OS I have took to opportunity to look at what browser I want to use. Using Vivaldi for the last few years. Gnome Web (Epiphany) is the only one so far that properly configured my languages based on the system settings out of the box. #GnomeWeb #Epiphany it's a pity there is no Android / Freedroid port of this.
