Well, tomorrow's the big day ... Summer concert time! Feeling decidedly wobbly on a couple of the pieces but have done as much as I could have done so let's see how they go!

Can't wait to never play in Eb Major again though, my teacher wrote all my parts in that key so that I have death by a thousand enharmonic equivalents as a way to get me to learn how to read in flats better!

Well, today marks an important step in my life as a #flautist ... We removed the first bung on my open holed flute! Starting with F ... which actually feels like it's probably the easiest!

It's a whole new sensory experience which has thrown me quite a bit .. but I'll get used to it!

I got this flute about 4 months ago and it's been quite the learning experience, a whole new ball game playing on a fully silver flute compared with a nickel student flute!

A little update on my flute practice!

This is my lovely second hand, new to me Miyazawa flute.

Full silver flutes take a lot more puff to play, getting there!

From ABRSM grade 5, Out Walking by Errollyn Wallen.

Currently have bungs in the holes - as I get more confident we will remove them one at a time until I'm fully open!

Loving it, the sound is much more beautiful and rich!
