The same photo of a fly as in the previous post but now the contrast and color saturation are higher and the image slightly cropped so the fly looks slightly bigger.

Today I tried #ShineStacker (shinestacker.wordpress.com) – new open source focus stacker and it works! Stacked my hand-held fly shots on default settings with no problems, something I couldn’t achieve with Hugin tools (but my #Olympus #em5mark3 could with OOC jpeg).

Throwback Saturday

Here's one of my better macro shots. It's from some small spring blossom. Shot in 2017 with a vintage Vivitar macro (and I guess a Raynox 250) and focus-stacked.

Close-up macro photograph of a white flower showing delicate petals with water droplets and translucent texture. The flower's center reveals bright yellow-orange anthers tipped with pollen, surrounding a pale green pistil. Pink-tinted stamens are visible among the white petals, which show fine details and natural imperfections in the backlighting

I've been looking to get a heavy pair of scissors to add to my bookbinding tools for cutting bookcloth and the like. Sort of had to buy this pair.

A macro photograph of the maker's stamp from "T. Wilkinson & Son" on a pair of antique tailor's shears. Only the pivot screw and the maker's mark is visible in the frame.

5/5 #fungi

Another #EppingForest fungi shot with manual #focusstacking and an LED panel light. I have mostly achieved the smooth focus fall-off for some 3d pop that I wanted.

My first attempt at focus stacking with a macro lens. Hastily captured over lunch time today.

Processed with github.com/lucalista/shinestac although I'm still considering other options. Shine Stacker errors out after composing the image with an EXIF error, and OOMed my computer on my first try.

#Macro photo of a peacock's tail feather. Bird dropped it right in front of me while moulting back in July. It's so much fun to zoom into these shots and discover all the iridiscent details.

Experimenting with new tools: focus stacking. This is a (deceased) carpenter bee taken from one of the traps I use to try and minimize the holes they drill in my porch, on a sassafras leaf. 60 shots stacked.

Which of these three images do you think is best? I'm terrible at choosing.

#52wochenfotochallenge by @norberteder #FocusStacking

I was in the woods and give the in-camera-focus-stacking feature a try. I forgot my tripod and so it was out of hand and was limited.

Moss in detail with trees in the background. So typical floor of a wood.

32/52 Dancing with the Light
Strolled through the woods - the quest for my model. Then I found it right next to tree roots and leaves on the forest floor. So small. Will I be able to get several focus-layers? I placed the camera upside down on the tripod and began. It was very relaxing to set everything up and manually focus at the edge of my lens's capabilities.

A close-up of a green stem that splits into two parts at the top. At the tip of one stem is a tiny, delicate green leaf. At the tip of the other, even more delicate stem below, there is another, even smaller, truly tiny leaf. Perhaps a tenth of the size of the other. The stem is dark green, the leaves and their stems are light green. The background consists of white, green, and brown bokeh.
