Mal wieder ein Notebook mit #Foobar2000 und #Linux in Händen. Also #Foobar (2.24.5) tut auch hier unter einem #Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS seinen Dienst (und schiebt ganz wunderbar High-res-Webradio-Klänge übers Netzwerk auf einen Pioneer- Streamer). Meine Ohren freuen sich!

Just downloaded a plugin called foo_lnk-1.3.1-20100107.zip
which allows #Foobar2000 to follow .lnk files to their destination. Winamp just did this natively so didn't realise Foobar was missing a massive chunk of ThemeStream until I realised wait... Where's all my adverts?
I have a folder with 9 .lnk files in it which goes to various places so I don't have to duplicate gigs of content and it was all being ignored. No longer. Mahahahaha!

Well, here it is - better sooner than later with probably among the worst upload speed in the old continent (which is not actually a continent) but the good intention is important.

While I'm dispensing windows music library advice, Foobar2000's "Automatically Fill Values" feature buried in tools button of the track properties has been the best feature I went years without using. You basically look at the filename and type into the pattern field what the tag for each part of the filename should be.

Wow, there is actually a macOS version of #foobar2000. It's not the most Mac-like app (yet), but it's fast and supports multiple multiple source directories for its music library. Exactly what I need. https://www.foobar2000.org/mac

Nachdem ich das restliche Jahr #Urlaub habe dachte ich, dass ich meinen #Geburtstag heute mal dazu nutzen könnte, mein #iPhone an meine Bedürfnisse anzupassen.

Was wollte ich erreichen?
Von #Android kenne ich das einfache Verschieben von digitalen Büchern und Musik. Da ich viele Bücher als ePub kaufe und meine Musik auf CD im Regal und digital auf der Festplatte liegen, wäre das vermutlich mit iTunes gegangen. Davon bin ich aber kein Fan, zumal iTunes viel zu gerne in Metadaten von Musik rumpfuscht.

Mein erster Versuch war das Programm WALTR Pro. Meine Partnerin nutzt es für ihr iPad. Ich habe es aber nicht zum Laufen bringen können. Zumindest nicht mit Screenreader.

Meine Bücher habe ich kürzlich mit #Localsend aufs iPhone bekommen. Als zweiten Schritt konnte ich die Bücher dann in #SpeechCentral laden.

Fehlte noch die Musik. Gleiches Vorgehen um festzustellen, dass die Musik-App nicht erlaubt, lokale Dateien zu durchsuchen. Nachdem ich jetzt #Foobar2000 aufs iPhone installierte, läuft aber auch das. Einziges Problem: Der Bildschirm, auf dem angezeigt wird, was gerade läuft, ist für #VoiceOver gar nicht sichtbar. Kurzerhand deaktiviert, dass der angezeigt wird und jetzt läuft meine lokale Musik auf dem iPhone.

Ein bisschen durch die Brust ins Auge, wie man so schön sagt. Aber es läuft. Auch wenn Localsend für meinen Geschmack deutlich zu viele unbenannte Schaltflächen hat. Das darf in 2024 nun wirklich nicht mehr passieren! Wenn da noch nachgebessert würde, wäre ich noch zufriedener.

It's been years but I still find myself reaching for Doppler by @edwellbrook for playing offline music. Pretty great app. The only thing I miss in it is an equalizer (one of the reasons why #foobar2000 is on my phone despite being so ugly).

God. Brought a couple of spare powered speakers out to the kitchen area to hook up to the Mac Mini. Installed the #Mac version of #Foobar2000, an app that absolutely rules supreme on #Windows for #MP3 etc playback. Shared my MP3 folder from the master PC. Now adding files across the network - taking forever.

And so it begins. Or continues, rather.
