As already mentioned, in Paracas the desert meets the ocean.
There is nothing in between. The small town of Paracas, of course. But in terms of landscape, the beach merges directly into the desert.
But let's not forget the sea. Fantastically beautiful.
And penguins! We were very excited about that! Penguins in the wild!
The most famous sight is of course the so-called candelabra of Paracas; a geoglyph whose shape is actually a little reminiscent of a three-armed candlestick.This approximately 170 metre high carving is over 2000 years old.

Great site to visit. The largest intaglio is sort of off the beaten track, off the main road in without interpretive parking.

Кое-где пишут, что осмотр возможен только с воздуха, но это не так. Говорят, что к осмотру доступны и некоторые другие рисунки, но к ним нужно идти пешком - на это времени не было. Туристов на удивление мало.

Геоглифы Пальпы. Расположены совсем рядом с более известными геоглифами Наски. У меня был всего один день на все, так что он получился ударным - утром осмотр с самолета, а потом с водителем поездили по смотровым площадкам.

No real reason other than I was searching for something else, spotted a post about the #Paracas people, remembered our visit to #Peru, and felt like sharing the #ParacasCandelabra we saw there in 2019. Similar to the #NazcaLines but older, this #geoglyph is 181 metres high, dates from around 200BCE, and can be seen from 20km away at sea.
