love that HBO beat GRRM to the punch on his own ending and this clearly greatly upset him and no doubt affected his desire to work on 'Winds'. (there are few things as a creative i can imagine as more discouraging than having someone cut in line and steal all of the grand moments you've been building towards for decades of your life). and then HBO said
"Hey, we're gonna take the Tragedy at Summerhall from you too."
to which he apparently replied
"Yeah, no problem!"

HBO should make a deal with Dunkin' Donuts for the new Game of Thrones series for a menu item called Dunkin' Egg. Someone will figure out what is being dipped in what.

Sorry I'm late tonight. We got our new water softener unit installed today (ouch!) and we're still debating the various options of possible maintainance plans (I'm against).
I'm still hurting from my tooth issue, and soft food sux.
My joy is coming from watching Doorways, an OLD (1993) failed TV pilot similar to Sliders, written by George R.R. Martin. It's fun!
And I've lost 17 pounds . . .
I see that GRRM is having a laugh, claiming that those complaining about the Winds of Winter delays have given up on him. Nah, mate. That happened after the first decade of 'the book is almost done.'
Whatever irritation #GRRM feels is magnified 10-fold by his fans.
I have given up on ever reading #TheWindsOfWinter and haven't consumed any of his content since 2012. Why bother further investment until he demonstrates he can finish the story?
At this point, he's essentially a technology company who came out with a great product that he refuses to support.

Some people cite J.R.R. Tolkien as the opposite of George R.R. Martin when it comes to finishing books. Which is funny if you actually know anything about Tolkien.
These people mistakenly think that Lord of the Rings is a trilogy just because it often gets printed in three volumes. LOTR is of course the sequel to The Hobbit and there were seventeen years between these publications.
The rest of Tolkien's Middle Earth books were published after his death, many in a series appropriately titled Unfinished Tales.
If you actually want an example of an author of a fantasy series with an impressive output then Robin Hobb should be on top of the list. Between 1995 and 2017 she published 16 books in her Realm of the Elderlings series.
