A surge in gun training is sweeping left-leaning communities after Alex Pretti’s killing by federal agents in Minneapolis. Once cautious, liberals, women, LGBTQ individuals, and people of color now flock to courses, with classes at L.A. Progressive Shooters sold out through March and Pink Pistols in Minnesota doubling classes for increased interest. Experts say the left is increasingly arming itself, driven by fear and anger over recent police violence and government overreach, transforming the gun debate into a growing movement for protection and equality. A study of county-level suicide data in 4 U.S. states that passed 'red flag' laws (removing firearms from those deemed a risk to themselves or others) and 8 that did not found that, in the year following the law's passage, firearm suicides decreased by 3.79 per 100,000 populations. Rates of suicide by other means did not decrease.

Claim via Social Media: White-christian nationalist fundraiser Charlie Kirk, revered by authoritarians for his perceived favor to power, said “the Second Amendment is not for hunting or self-protection, but so citizens can defend themselves against a tyrannical government.”

Snopes rating: True — The quote was accurately attributed to Charlie Kirk.
He posted the statement on X on March 3, 2018, and has repeated similar remarks in later interviews.

The Second Amendment was intended by privileged and frightened property owners as protection for their stolen land & their chattel by force; to conscript their vassal neighbors when they and not any higher authority considered it necessary and to recover for them any property that had been expropriated or had run away - women, livestock, or slaves (laws made little distinction) to return them dead or alive, and to kill any indigenous people they encountered. Fundamentally this constitutional amendment had nothing whatever to do with guns, until Wayne LaPierre, Charlton Heston, and their "Federalist" fundraiser pals made that claim to warp the Constitution to fit their own white-christian-nationalist, prosperity theology after Ronald Reagan's White Fear gun control measures to ensure disarming of Black People. Until that time the NRA was in favor of #gunControl #2A
