The image is a vintage postcard depicting Herald Square in New York City during the month of March. It's an illustration with a colorized tone, showing people from what appears to be late 19th or early 20th century attire walking around and engaging in various activities on a city street. In the center stands a square surrounded by buildings, one prominently featuring "Herald Square" above its entrance, suggesting it's an important public place at that time.

A trolley labeled "BROADWAY" is visible with passengers boarding or alighting, indicating active transportation methods of the era. There are several horse-drawn carriages and people wearing hats typical of historical New York fashion. The sky has a mix of blue hues and soft clouds, adding to the ambiance of an early spring day.

Atop the illustration, handwritten text reads: "309 Herald Square N.Y.Cty March 1st," followed by a message in cursive that says: "Dear what is once peace there? Do come back. See what it was & Peace till; Go come back." The note continues with more personal sentiments and ends with the writer's signature, suggesting this postcard may have been sent as a keepsake or to keep in touch despite distance.

The overall feel of the image evokes nostalgia for an earlier time in New York City's history while providing insight into how people traveled and interacted within urban spaces during that period.

Here is the latest "Animals of the Apple" page. I've decided to officially start posting these every other week, just because that seemed to be the place I can make them. I will try to post some of my random sketches or WIPs more often though.

Sorry this one took so long. August was a busy month, and I researched way too much about both pigeons and newspapers to fit in a two page story. I do find both topics infinitely fascinating though.

The image is a vintage-style illustration featuring an urban scene. At the center of the image, there's an American flag flapping in the wind. In the background, there's a depiction of a bustling city street with a train running on tracks and various buildings along the sides. There are also vehicles and people present in the scene. The overall style of the illustration suggests it could be from an older time period, possibly early 20th century given the clothing styles of the people and the design of the train.

The image is printed on a flat surface that looks like a mouse pad or coaster. In the bottom right corner of the image, there's text that reads "J. P. Morgan," which is likely a reference to the famous American financier John Pierpont Morgan who was known for his work in the early 20th century.

The surrounding elements of the image include a car and a horse-drawn carriage, further emphasizing the vintage nature of the illustration. The overall composition of the image is detailed and busy, capturing the essence of an active city environment from that time period.

The image is a photograph of an antique postcard. It features a vintage street scene with the following elements:

- A horse-drawn carriage on the left side, indicating that this image is from a time before automobiles were common in urban areas.
- People are dressed in clothing typical for the late 19th or early 20th century, further suggesting the age of the photograph.
- On the right, there's a streetcar stop with a vehicle partially visible on the tracks, indicating an early form of public transportation.
- Buildings can be seen in the background, some of which appear to be residential or commercial structures from that era.
- The overall style and quality of the photograph suggest it might have been taken by tourists who were interested in capturing their travels at the time.
- There's handwritten text on the postcard, but due to the resolution of the image, it is not possible to read or transcribe the writing clearly for visually impaired users.

In September, I walked through Manhattan with a friend to see the cows of the New York City Cow Parade. I saw three in total - I think I see what the Macy's in Herald Square did here.

NYC Cow Parade statute at Herald Square Macy's, the cow is suspended in the air in the lobby as if it is a parade float.
