#EpsteinFiles reveal mentions of Vladimir #Putin, intelligence allegations and contacts with #Russia

Some media outlets reporting on the files contend that Epstein may have been involved in what is described in intelligence circles as a “#honeytrap” operation, a strategy historically associated with intelligence services that uses sexual or romantic lures to gather compromising material (or #kompromat) on powerful individuals.

Excerpt: "Newly released documents from the #JeffreyEpstein case have sparked renewed attention to alleged connections between the late financier and high-level figures in Russia, including President #VladimirPutin and purported intelligence networks. While the claims are serious and widely circulated in media reports, concrete evidence linking Epstein to formal Russian intelligence operations remains unverified.

"A tranche of internal emails and communications unveiled by the US Department of Justice includes more than 1,000 references to Putin and nearly 10,000 mentioning Moscow, according to The Standard.

"In one 2011 email according to the outlet, an unnamed intermediary writes that Epstein planned an 'appointment with Putin' in Russia, with travel arrangements discussed through a contact identified only as 'Igor' .

"In a 2014 email, Japanese entrepreneur #JoiIto appears to inform Epstein that a meeting involving Putin was being considered, though the plan was reportedly dropped after the Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 tragedy, which saw Russian forces shoot down a passenger jet over Ukraine and kill 298 people.

"An FBI report further alleged that Epstein maintained a close relationship with former Israeli prime minister #EhudBarak and claimed he was 'trained as a spy' under Barak’s guidance."

@mo @oliverg @eric_maechler Drei. Vier, wenn man 2010 mit reinnimmt, aber die Bay Area Rejects gab es nach 2010 nicht mehr wirklich.

Damals sind die Meisten in IRC (yay, #joiito) gewesen, aber die "Einladung" ist von IRC auf Orkut, etc. geteilt worden. Ich habe auf den Camps eine ganze Menge Menschen zum ersten Mal kennengelernt, aber Du hast schon Recht, dass irgendwer irgendwen von irgendwoher wahrscheinlich kannte.

"Regeln" an sich gab es erst mal nicht. Du darfst nicht vergessen, dass die BarCamp (oder die Camp-Kultur im Allgemeinen, gab ja auch das AusCamp, NYCamp, MumbaiCamp, DevCamp, SexCamp, etc.) sehr stark mit der Wiki-Kultur verknüpft war.

Die "Regeln" haben sich mit der Zeit entwickelt, Jede:r hat irgendwann einmal etwas dazu aufs (jetzt leider tote) Wiki geschrieben. Auf barcamp.org findest Du die neueren Versionen. Eine der ersten Richtinien war das hier, von Termie und Tantek:

The Bay Area Camp, BarCamp, is an un-invited, open un-conference like OpenSpace but has a less rigid structure.
Everyone can attend. Attendance is free of charge and restricted only by space constraints.
Following the model of Foo Camp, the venue also makes space for the attendees, or BarCampers, to camp out overnight.
BarCamps are organized and evangelized through the web; anyone can initiate a BarCamp using the BarCamp wiki.

Damals gab es zwei Regeln (Fight Club war 4 Jahre alt und Gospel in der Szene):

1st Rule: You do talk about BarCamp.
2nd Rule: You do blog about BarCamp.

2006 gab es noch:

You do not advertise on BarCamp
Show your work
Be excellent to each other

Ich war damals der einzige Angestellte der WordPress Inc. (später Automattic) und Matt hatte auf WordPress.com heimlich Werbung geschaltet. Das gab einen riesen Shitstorm, und Matt war im Urlaub, also musste ich das ausbaden. Das führte zu dem "you do not advertise." Der Rest ist einfach Common Sense.

Anyone still use IRC? After the freenode debacle, and everyone deserting #joiito I've lost touch. I'm missing the quasi-real time, quasi-async group chat with like minded nerds.

The one thing IRC never really sorted was searchab;e history sync to find out what happened over night. There have been other FOSS and decentralised attempts to do a better IRC. Patchwork and the scuttlebutt protocol anyone?
