@jwildeboer The small form factor and design is definitely appealing.

You can also make your own music player by taking an old phone, install @postmarketOS on it, and play your music collection with one of the great linux apps such as Gapless. I've done exactly this with my oneplus6t

WebKit might be coming to SailfishOS - forum.sailfishos.org/t/webkit-

For now it is an experiment, but keyboard, copy and paste, zoom, ui integration is working. What missing is video/audio, sandboxing (Sailjail and engine) and hardware acceleration.

Today is my first time when I've managed easily connect to the Wifi via qr code.
flathub.org/en/apps/org.kde.qr is a great app.

When you're working on a bug fix, new feature, or even a small cleanup — share it early.

The pool of developers is small. If you contributed support for a sensor on your phone, someone else might pick it up, test it, and enable it on theirs with almost no extra work.

Your change can become part of bigger whole infrastructure. 1/2

Puzzle embracing cooperation

We just landed initial support for Chinese (via #pinyin) and Japanese (via #anthy / romaji) in #Phosh's on screen keyboard #stevia using #uim 🥳

As our current maintainers don't speak / write these languages we appreciate testing feedback and people joining development so we can improve things further in this important area.

Before I bite the proverbial bullet. Is someone on the #fediverse using a #Fairphone 5 with #PostmarketOS edge on it ? Is it as good as the wiki suggests ? What are the gotchas apart from the documented ones on the wiki?
Please boost ❤️

When your other half tells you to just buy the #Fairphone 5 for your #LinuxMobile dream and you hesitate wondering if you should or not. Is it a trap? 🙄

Time flies 🚀: Exactly one year ago we had our association's founding meeting 🥳.

Looking forward to the next year of developing and promoting #Phosh and the #LinuxMobile ecosystem, working towards user friendly #DigitalFreedom and #DigitalIndependence (nowadays often called #DigitalSovereignity) for the devices we carry in our pockets very day 📱.

Our next booth will be at #CLT2026 in Chemnitz, meet us there.

Maybe its just anecdotal but it seems that in previous eras attempts at mobile, etc were targeting low end devices, whereas now they seem to be targeting the latest "mainstream".

The most extreme low end effort was maybe the ZTE devices, cute little plasticky things.

The difference can be quite material (> 500 versus < 200 in some monetary units).

No idea what best strategy to reach mass adoption but maybe chasing the giant phone selfie crowd is not it? 🤣

Just added compass support to Charon, which was surprisingly easy thanks to iio-sensor-proxy.

This is my review of the FLX1 phone from @FuriLabs. I've been using this phone for about 3 years as a daily driver. I am very happy with it! My banking app works, which is great, Android apps work very well in general. Plenty of settings and updates are monthly. There are glitches: flickering of the screen that I can't stop unless I remove the battery, that happens when I press power button twice; and artifacts being left back when uninstalling Android apps.

Coulr is now working well on (before latest version, it had a fixed non-resizable window).

Post written with Tuba in on my all new OP6t (and first linux phone) 😀️

I've installed @postmarketOS with Phosh and systemd (!) back onto my OnePlus6T. Waydroid works surprisingly well too.

What's a good starting point for contributing to the linux on mobile experience? #linuxmobile
