I’m quietly sitting by the river, waiting to see who will succeed between #meshcore and #meshtastic. One option is technically more efficient and is designed to connect a pre-existing network of individuals, while the other focuses on connecting the broader community. I’m not favouring one over the other; however, I wonder if there is any benefit in dividing hobbyists into groups that cannot communicate with each other. What’s your thought?

@seeedstudio opened preorders for their upcoming #loramesh solar node.

seeedstudio.com/SenseCAP-Solar

This seems to be a good affordable kit for people wanting to expand their mesh without the need of power plugs ;)

It is advertised as a #meshtastic equipment and it will work great on this network.

It will also be quickly supported in #meshcore as the xiao-nrf52 core that it embeds is already supported.

#Commandline setup of a #reticulum #radio #rnode , and the required #rnsd #rns #daemon #software, as a #transportnode to forward #lora packets from other rnodes in the #loramesh . These commands can be used over #ssh to set up a #headless computer that powers and runs the rnode (as an "interface") via #usb connection from the computer e.g. #RaspberryPi #raspberrypizero2 . Includes command line #flashing of the rnode #firmware and setting the radio settings for #867mhz

@tomgag The Reticulum Network reminds me of the days of BBS, FidoNet, IRC, and such. It uses LoRa (Long Range) radios and/or WiFi to broadcast singles short to long distances and connect to others around you. You can also link the Reticulum Network up to the Internet to reach further, but to me, that takes the fun out of it.

@magnus919 @thomas Depends on how you want the data to be spread... obviously only an option. Can even send data via Internet directly via #MQTT for example. The node MTS3 measuring #temperature and #humidity on left shares a private encrypted so-called channel with the node that has the interface on the right. Any number of nodes could join the channel and see the temperature and humidity reported by node MTS3. #meshtastic #loramesh

T-beam supreme connected by bluetooth to a phone. Phone provides GUI interface and connects node to MQTT via phone's wifi. The temp and humidity of the T-beam supreme is available to this node via the lora Mesh and/or internet via MQTT.Temp and humidity trend on node MTS3 on left is visible to any other node in the same so-called channel
