The Monkland canal was abandoned in the 1940s, and much of it was culverted in the 1970s when the M8 motorway was built on top of it. The canal still runs through this culvert and just a short distance from this wall in the now-dry canal bed is an access cover and if you listen carefully you can hear the water passing beneath it.

The m8 tracker beta has multichannel output! It might not make it to final release but I'm forever impressed with what this little box can do #m8 #m8tracker

view of carla session manager, predominantly showing the 24 channel output from the m8 tracker

Enjoying Superstructures a lot! It's a DnB record by @jjbbllkk. Boggles my mind that it was composed on the Dirtywave M8.

Just keeps getting more and more expensive. These things were four hundred a few years ago when they came out and the hardware does the same thing (edit: by “does” I mean the audio tech is the same and you generate the same shit).

They’ll be sold out in a flash, and next time they show up they’ll be even more expensive.

Not playing that game.

#AMD #EPYC #Turin vs. #Intel #Xeon 6 #GraniteRapids vs. #Graviton4 Benchmarks With #AWS #M8 Instances
From #AI and #HPC to video encoding/transcoding, compilation, and traditional LAMP, 5th Gen AMD EPYC powering AWS M8a instances were delivering best performance overall against AWS Graviton4 and Intel Xeon 6. Even though Graviton4 offers lowest cost/hour, AMD EPYC Turin was routinely delivering much better performance-per-dollar across most of the workloads tested.

Quick shot before going to bed. Decided to aim to . Just a 8 stack - 20 second exposure per image. Just with the moon and sky light filter. Not to shabby.

M8 The Lagoon Nebula - telescope processed image. A giant stellar nursery in Sagittarius (4,000-6,000 ly away). It's an emission nebula with glowing gas, a dark dust lane (the "lagoon"), and the embedded Hourglass Nebula. M8 The Lagoon Nebula - unprocessed image. It is one of only two star-forming nebulae (stellar nurseries) bright enough to be faintly visible to the naked eye from mid-northern latitudes.

Hell yeah, Jeremy has made a new M8 DnB album.

I think this is a sign that I should be doing lots of M8 stuff for WeeklyBeats 2026, too.

Good evening. Decided to try the s50 with 20 second imaging duration. After about 25 minutes I had 10:40 minutes of information. Let the s50 do its thing cleaning up the image. Here is tonight’s observation of . Also leaving the telescope overnight observing more nebula. Will share the results tomorrow.

M8 Lagoon Nebula - telescope processed image. M8 Lagoon Nebula is a giant emission nebula and stellar nursery in Sagittarius. It's faintly visible to the naked eye and glows due to the UV radiation of young, hot, embedded stars, which also sculpts its gas and dust.M8 Lagoon Nebula - unprocessed image. It contains half-a-light-year-long "interstellar twisters"—funnel-shaped structures of gas and dust sculpted by the radiation and winds of hot young stars.

A key part this workflow is missing are the bridges/drops, but this is *the* way to producing music on the M8.

Last night we had a lovely clear sky, so I set up a mosaic with the Dwarf3 around the Triffid and Lagoon nebulae.

I applied my usual post processing steps, and I got almost as good a result as I got up in Beacon with the DwarfII. But only almost, and with twice as long an exposure.

Let's just look at that for a moment, because not all is as it seems.

The D3 has a 38mm aperture, and the D2 25mm. This means that the D3 has twice the light gathering capability of the D2, and has a more sensitive detector. So this image has four times the light gathered as the image in Beacon, but it is also a mosaic covering almost four times the area, so we come back down to the same amount of light per pixel as the D2 got in a true dark sky.

What this means is that if I had taken this shot last week in Beacon, it would have been truely spectacular!

2 hours 8 minutes total exposure, gain 80, Ha/OIII filter.

Two nebulae, a smaller one near the centre top, with three dust lanes dividing into a sort of pie chart. Below is a much larger nebula with a bright central region making it look like an atoll.

Another target from last Friday up in Beacon. This time it is one that I often target, M8 - the Lagoon Nebula. I almost never get to see it like this, though, and especially not with the DwarfII!

The Lagoon is an intense star forming region and emission nebula.

This was my first target of the night with the DwarfII, so I gave it 90 minutes with the Ha/OIII filter. The results speak for themselves!

A sky full of glowing clouds, with an orange nebula extending from the right-hand edge into the centre of the frame, where is glows green and white.
