#Dwarf3

Some images from last night.
We have Centaurus A, the Jewel box cluster and southern Pleiades (IC 2602) from the Dwarf and a mosaic of the running chicken nebula from the Seestar.

A wide star field. Centre right is what resembles a large star with a wispy cloud in front of it. I love this image 😍

For the first time, I put my #seestarS50 and #dwarf3 out in the same location, looking at the same object, at the same time for supposedly the same length of time. I have felt that the Dwarf was better but didn’t ’zoom in’ enough, so the Seestar would get me closer to an object. Now I have some evidence and no, the Dwarf wins even in that domain. Consider the images.
The dwarf has a wider field of view but a much higher resolution so you can zoom in on the image and get a closer in view of the object than the Seestar.
The image is less noisy on the dwarf (both had their respective denoise algorithms applied)
I’m sure there are situations where the Seestar will shine, but for this #astrophotography, I will stay with the Dwarf.

Note that both were scheduled for 1 hour of airtime but frames were dropped because of reasons I am not sure about, but probably because of streaks, blurs or planes flying through leaving trails.

I took advantage of the new Moon a couple days ago, and got a nice look at Centaurus A.

Quite good detail this time.

An unusual Galaxy with a dark stripe across it is in the centre of a well populated star field. There are distinctly red and blue tinted stars, and a faint satellite trail at the top of the image.

Well the #astrophotography from Wednesday night was a failure. I ran out of space on the device! So last night was a retry.

A cool effect when a tree blocked out the sun in parts! Unedited!

Waxing Gibbous passed, I didn't get a good one of full moon, because there's rarely such a thing, but Waning Gibbous cometh.

The moon in its waning gibbous phase. The craters and mare are clearly visible. This was taken by a Dwarf 3 digital camera in 20 images, 0.04 s each.

There was a lovely waxing gibbous moon just past first quarter tonight.
