TL;DR: I went to the Manistee National Forest for a quick backpacking trip last night.
Trip Report
I got to the trailhead at E 58th St around 4pm on Sunday. It was a quick one mile hike into the forest following the North Country Trail.
Just past Bigelow Creek, in The Pines, is where I made my camp. The weather report was clear β no rain β so I slept under the stars. I made a small fire, enjoyed a dehydrated meal (Peak Refuel White Chicken Chili), and listened to nature.
I woke up a bit chilly due to the temperature being 36 degrees (F). My gear is good to that temperature and my mistake was that the underquilt was not close enough to my hammock. I also should have worn socks.
I woke up feeling intensely refreshed. So refreshed that I skipped breakfast and tea and went straight to packing up camp. Until next time Pines.
