It’s a cat amongst the parrots and pigeon today for #MosaicMonday! One parrot seems like they might be aware of the danger but it looks like the other two are in danger of becoming lunch!
The mid-5th century AD mosaic from the Chedworth Roman villa in the Cotswolds in Gloucestershire. The mosaic was found in a possible summer dining room in this National Trust site. This shows that at least some people kept the opulent lifestyle into the Dark Ages. #MosaicMonday

The Littlecote Orpheus mosaic relates to the pagan revival during the reign of Julian the Apostate (361–363). In 360, the barn-like part of the villa was converted into a courtyard, and a triconch hall was built alongside, with its own bath suite with the mosaic. #MosaicMonday
Happy Birthday, Rome! It’s a long time since the founding of the city, but we pay our reverence always to the greatest She-wolf who ever lived and the fantastic mosaic she inspired!

Hopefully your Monday is going better than this poor fish, who seems to be in a bit of a funk. An observation made all the more reasonable by the fact that they only have two clams for company and appear to be swimming over a fish graveyard 👀
A Dionysian Roman mosaic with an eros riding a tiger with a mane. It was found from the House of the Faun, dating to the end of the second century BC. It is one of similar mosaics with felines found in Delos, Pella and Pompeii. The House of the Faun has many exotic mosaics. #MosaicMonday
