Question for my #MSX friends: PUT SPRITE allows us to use an X value of from -32 to 255 (so the sprites flow out of screen), but the X attribute on the Sprite attribute table is a single byte.
How do you set a value of -17 in there?

Got some time to optimize the scrolling on the pipes of Flappy Patastrato for #MSX because I am determined to get it run at 60FPS.
I started unwinding sprite loops, I ended writing just the X position on the sprite attribute table directly... something I never had to do before.

Everyone is trying to figure out the #Microsoft #Xbox strategy moving forward. I haven't seen anyone make the comparison to #MSX which I think will be the most likely analogy.
MSX, MSX2, MSX2+ and MSX(3/TurboR) were basically a guiding baseline for game compatibility on computers. It's basically what Steam is setting up with it's Deck Verified system, and makes sense as a move for XBOX to transition out of hardware and into software that runs on a more personalized system.
I'm talking about Europe here.
In the 80s there was a sucessful wave of 8bit computers: ZX Spectrum, Commodore C64, MSX, Amstrad CPC 664, some of them more succesfull than others, but the next 8bit wave IMHO was far from successful.: Spectrum 128/+2, Sinclair QL, Commodore C128, MSX2,... Any thoughts about this?
